Is anybody else desperately waiting for Autumn like I am?
Fortunately, the weather has gone cooler here in Liverpool: from endless sunshine to a drizzle of rain now and again, grey skies with the occasional hint of blue peeping through cautiously and a temperature that veers between pleasantly cool to definite chill. It gives me hope that my arms won’t need to be over-exposed for much longer, that my boots, long-suffering and ignored though they have been, will be used again and that, despite the best efforts of a heatwave-obsessed press, Autumn will arrive and bring with it all those things we adore. Misty mornings, piles of wet leaves, conkers and beech nuts and, of course, the spiced lattes held lovingly in hands to savour both scent and heat.
Autumn is a great time to look to our small pleasures, the little things that make us smile, that give our hearts a golden glow to last through to Christmas and that set our spirits up for darker evenings, watery sunshine with no heat and feet that feel the cold every step to the bathroom first thing in the morning. Hygge is all about small pleasures and enjoyment. Here, then, is my list of Autumn Hygge for you to enjoy.
Hygge and happiness go so well together. If you’d like to read about the small things that have helped me to be happier, my new book is available from Amazon. Happier is all about how to use the small details in life to make you happier. You can get it at Amazon. I also think the principles of enjoying life and savouring the small details is an important part of hygge and that runs through my first few books as well. You can find details about all my books, and how to connect with me on social media on the Start Here page of my blog.
****How to Hygge the British Way Blog isn’t monetised. I have taken the decision that I want to remain neutral and not to promote things ‘just because’. I will only ever review items that I have bought myself, or that I think will help to promote hygge in a busy life. To do this, I need support. Even just the price of a coffee adds up to a book over time, and it means I can stay independent. Would you help? Please consider clicking through to paypal.me/HyggeJem and leaving even a small amount. I’d be very grateful. Thank you.***
I love your list! Makes me want to get ready for fall!!!!
