50 Ways to Hygge Book Tour!! Hygge is… meeting people

For the next 10 week days, my little book is on tour! And you can join in on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Just post a picture of my book (or any other hygge book) with the hashtag #50WaystoHyggeBookTour and I’ll be able to find them, admire them and share them here! I’m really looking forward to seeing how far away the book can get in 2 weeks. Perhaps I should do one of those Facebook posts asking for it to be shared around the world…

Today’s bit of the tour is a bit of a boring one: it’s the tour bus, otherwise known as the York Park and Ride.

Tours have to start somewhere, don’t they? So where better than one of the most unhyggely things in the world: public transport. I love meeting people, I can talk to anyone and usually get their life story out of them within minutes, but even I struggle to get anything from people on public transport. Not a smile, not even eye contact most of the time. It’s like we all go into a closed space and avoid contact on purpose. And, yes, I know there’s always the risk of meeting the local eccentric and getting caught in a loop story fuelled by rage and alcohol… but seriously, no eye contact? Is is that bad?

Hygge is about community, about building links between people and part of that building links is trusting other people. Denmark & the Scandi nations have the highest levels of trust in the world, because they work at building community. Surely part of building that trust & fellowship is to make a contact with those around us.Just a smile costs nothing and might be the most positive human contact some people have. Try it today.

Don’t forget you can join in my book tour, details on the Book Tour post , and that copies of my book are available in Paperback and Kindle version from Amazon.  If you purchase through the links on this page, I get a couple of pence extra per copy.

My blog is on Facebook as How to Hygge the British Way and you can now follow me on Bloglovin as well. I’m personally also on Twitter and Instagram and as a member of The Hygge Nook on Facebook.

****How to Hygge the British Way Blog isn’t monetised. I have taken the decision that I want to remain neutral and not to promote things just because. I will only ever review items that I have bought myself, or that I think will help to promote hygge in a busy life. To do this, I need support. Even just the price of a coffee adds up to a book over time, and it means I can stay independent. Would you help? Please consider clicking through to paypal.me/HyggeJem and leaving even a small amount. I’d be very grateful. Thank you.***
